Thanks to all esteemed and helpful blind members. Am looking for some guidance around how / where my current role and experience maps at google/ Facebook / Microsoft in terms of compensation and levels. Total experience of 10 years - 7 years in ML and big data , currently at m5- sr. director . Comp around TC - 300 , base 210 and 20% bonus yearly. What can be an expected mapping and Comp at google , Facebook , Microsoft or Netflix ?
dude, 300k is like the 2nd level after graduation in fang
Not 210 base though
True. Well senior at fang will be roughly 3-5 years experience and at 350k. The stock is liquid and won’t drop that mucho
2x-2.5x seems easily attainable here
Directors at Amazon are pulling 800k+
Director title has different meaning at different companies, Amazon’s director level might be VP level elsewhere. I worked at Amazon and few other big firms, Amazon’s director level is a lot harder to get
What location is this
Bay Area
It’s amazing how much higher pay is in the Bay Area. I hope that spreads to the Boston area my houses value will go through the roof if it does :)
Seems highly underpaid
300k is for fresh PhD in fang
How much of it is base though . Stock values have soared in the last couple of years for them
Your title is meaningless at other tech companies, except the comp band it implies for you. Every company has a comp team, which has models to price you, based on the specific company your coming from, your level there, and how long you’ve been at that level. If it’s to your advantage, reveal how long you’ve been at the leve; if not, hide that info if possible. Based on what recruiters can know (comp at top of your band), you should decide how much comp you can reasonably shoot for. In your case, I’d suggest something like $350 - $400. Then, map that comp desired to a target level at your desired company. For example, 350-400 would be a L66 at Microsoft.
Just to speed you up. You’re probably going to be leveled L5 at Google and Facebook. L6 or L7 at Amazon. L66 at Microsoft.
It is hard to see the equivalence of sr director level at other companies, but if you can get t6 or above, you could easily double your tc.
