Have heard bad things about Amazon and its WLB. But the brand name is better than Oracle. Which one do you folks recommend?

Oracle is dead. Amazon isn't great but is far far better than Oracle and generally superior to Microsoft.

Oracle is where people who can't get into Amazon work.

Ex Amazon as well. Maybe you need a reality check.. the bar to hire into AWS is extremely low. Work conditions are a joke. In my 5 years there I saw a large number of people quit within 6 months. Nightmare on call, no appreciation, horrible pay, severe overcrowding and the offices are a pig sty. Oracle isn’t going to die any time soon. The pay is MUCH better and people in the office don’t have some giant chip on their shoulder because they’re riding Bezos’ dick.

ANY grad at my school could get a full time offer from Amazon.

How’s Rolling Stone going? Thanks for the license fees; it helps pay for us OCI peeps who ran away from AWS

If you know about rolling stone you better start praying, license fees are only going to go down YoY and OCI is a joke to make any dent in cloud.

Haha, I just doubled my ESPP contribution after hearing about Rolling Stone. OCI will not dent AWS, Azure already has. Amabots drink lot of Jeff jizz don’t they? 😝

Hey Ellison’s sperm cell? I’m quitting Amzn, going to Azure, but you sir have your ass as your hat. When you lose your job, I hope they offer you jizz. Trust e it’s not tooo far.

@SeekT - you must be LE to go to MSFT for a paycut 😝. They offer jizz and lot of bang too and when I lose my job I’ll become a mgr at Azure 😂

I’ve never been close to LE, but Being LE in Amazon or MSFT is still better. You work at Oracle.

^ Oracle pays in $ too (OCI pays a lot of it ). Looks like you did not get an offer from OCI 😜

Amazon people saying great things about themselves and bashing MS always. Clear indication of inferiority complex.

Here is opinion from the other side: Amazon is shittiest company in the world where most of the people leave within 2 years. Why? Toxic culture, forced under leveled people, shitty people from MS who joined Amazon (more explaination coming)

Do you know who from MS joins Amazon? People who are about to be fired, ZR and IRs. They can't stay in MS and nobody else will hire them. Obvious place to join Amazon, yay!

Now go and suck blood of your colleagues.

And Microsoft's culture isn't toxic? Secret high-po programs, projects that only exist so long as there is an executive to sponsor them, a deep set culture of elitism and favoritism, meetings where literally all you do is 'worship' someone, and a stack ranking system that has people virtually wear their rating on their neck, and if your rating isn't 'normal' or above, you're completely ignored, all leading to a culture of failing upwards?

Amazon is toxic, Microsoft is pure dystopia.

If you think, there is no perfect company out there. But Amazon Jeez!! Find out attrition data for both and let's compare.

Now I see you must be ex Microsoftie to know so much and must have failed miserably at MS and then at Amazon. I'm out and not participating in this discussion.

    • Left ms for Oracle. Couldn’t be happier. 1.5 TC increase and better WLB.

This says you work for ms

    • It’s bc I haven’t changed my account yet on blind. Not a priority on my list and I like hearing what’s going on at ms these days.

OCI is going to die. If you go there the TC better be amazing to make up for a dead end job

Of you think OCI has a lifespan of anything longer than a couple more years, you're foolish

Oracle has been a bottom feeding company for a while now. Their business practices are so shitty I'm surprised they're still afloat today.

Oracle solves real Enterprise problems with bespoke solutions created by SEs, msft and aws are more build it and they will come. This mentality comes from their consumer origins.

It’s super difficult to get into OCI folks from Amazon and MS fail badly during interviews. I have seen lot of folks from MS clearing FB interviews and failing at OCI. If you get an offer from OCI go for it you have lot of freedom and autonomy to make impact

That shit is FUNNY. I know several people who couldn't make it at msft that are now sr managers or directors at oci. I've never heard of even 1 person failing an oci interview from msft, and I've known maybe a dozen or so that have left.

Both these options seem like a step down from Microsoft, Google or Facebook would be step up IMHO

Depends on TC and level. Do u already have both offers? Also why not other places like fb/G?

If ur good, come to oci and make it better for the level that you are in. What's ur current TC with base n stock breakup?

Both OCI and Amzn are step down from principal at MS. If you can get Principal offer in Amazon maybe. Otherwise G, FB are your only option.
    Aug 21, 20181
    • Microsoft DOyu71
Principal at Amazon matches to 66+ at ms which is roughly equivalent comp. Google/fb are a little harder to gauge. Average comp of sr at google seattle is 275, 500 for staff. Average l66 comp like 350-400. Staff(l6) would include a little of 65, 66 and most of 67. I've known a 65 that went to google as l6 and a 66 but I dont know what level he was at google. I dont know the relative difficulty of getting l6 at google vs 66 at ms.
