Guys, Just got some info from a Facebooker that Facebook don’t ask dynamic programming questions. Is this true still? My recruiter email has dynamic programming topic in the list of topics to prepare. Just wanted to check with Facebook interviewers here.
There's a guideline to not ask dp, but that doesn't stop everybody from doing it. Still gets asked sometimes
I got dp questions in both coding rounds last year.
I had DP a few years ago when I was applying for an intern position, so it still gets asked a good amount.
Rough
Depending on how young the interviewer is.
Take them to dinner and wine before DP please.
My friend got written up for asking DP questions and put on a PIP - something about Zuck not knowing how to do them and going into rage whenever they’re mentioned. So you should be good OP
Lol. DP is asked at FB, but discouraged
2/3 of my interview questions was dp. I interviewed early this year
I bet most interviewers were young
I don’t know what skills they evaluate by asking DP. You either know the solution because you’ve seen it before or you do not. I don’t think it is fair to expect someone to derive a DP solution under interview pressure. You don’t need to be that smart to work in any tech company - be it FANG or anywhere else
DP is pretty easy to derive once you understand the principle. In fact, I think these are actually some of the easier algorithms to derive and code.
Ehh disagree. Even if you figure out the DP solution after seeing the recursive path to said solution, being able to code the whole thing is up isn't easy. This is all second hand knowledge cause I ain't FAANG squad, but buddies that are all say the same...dp interviewees generally spend the entire time coding up the solution after almost regurgitating the thought process.
Dude fuck DP
Asking dp is strictly prohibited
Why?
Huh... Really, though, why not? In my mind that's a pretty good signal (and an even stronger one if they can't write the brute-force backtracking non-DP solution either).
