Hi Everyone, I'm pretty well versed with a customer support background with some dabbling in internal auditing, data cleansing/integrity, and project management. Recently, I graduated a DS bootcamp but I'm having a rough time getting anything past a support job. I have an undergrad in a totally unrelated field (Music Business) Can anyone point out key hard skills necessary for DS as well as resources to practice (aside Kaggle)? Also any advice on where I can start within my current company so I can get out of support roles? I'm really digging Twilio but it seems vast experience in SWE, DevOps roles is more in demand here. Any advice helps, thanks!
Have you considered applying for the Hatch program?
Yes I have, it's just I am located in Denver and not sure how that could work. It's an excellent program and I'd love to make it work however I can
Your title says Twilio, so did you end up getting a DS position at Twilio?
I assume DS is Data Science. If that is the case, i would suggest to master SQL. No matter where you are applying, SQL is one of the most imp skills companies look for while hiring for DS and related roles. Have a good understanding about basic stats and ml algo, probability and python.
Yep! DS is indeed Data Science. Thanks for the advice!
