I have a sister who wants to go into tech as a data scientist. She is still in college as an undergrad and is incredibly smart. She doesn’t really know where to start and has a lot of questions but I don’t have a data science background and don’t know how I can help her out. Does anyone have any recommendations as to how I can find her mentors or people who can help her out? Any advice?
Send this to the COSINE team in Microsoft.
Data science is a bad title. Does she want to be a researcher, engineer, or analyst? If ML engineer she (or anyone else) can PM me, no fee, lol that’d be ridiculous

Sharpest minds is a company for DS mentoring. Once I get close to finishing school I plan to apply there. If anyone has better options feel free to chime in
Curious what background do you have?
I’d appreciate this as well. Commenting to follow this thread.
If your sister is incredibly smart, why does she want to do data science ? Isn't data science for those who can't deal with the complexity of software engineering and want an easy job ?

Is it even worth for me to jump to a new job with higher TC?
I have mentored a lot of folks for data science, I do that for a fee though. Pm me if you have questions and we can go from there.
Is the fee an arm and a leg?
You do not need to pay to become a data scientist. Simple google research will yield what needs to be done/studied. What is her current major? Depending on that will probably be best to join as data analyst after university and then study more to make the jump to data scientist after 1 year
