Data Science at Spotify
What do data scientists work on at Spotify? Do they focus more on the core algorithms, modeling and ML, or do they do analyst / business intelligence type work? I know at FB, core data scientists work on more research-like problems (and are paid a lot more) compared to "normal" FB data scientists (who do a lot of analyst work and less modeling). I am considering a move from Google Brain to Spotify and was looking at roles.
They are mostly product analytics people. I think they have machine learning engineer positions for ML people
The jobs with the title data scientist are more product experimentation and BI (like the "normal" FB data scientists). I think you'd be better off looking at machine learning or research roles (which are still pretty close to the product at spotify).
Are you a DS ? Wondering How do you like the role so far?
I can confirm what KXAo87 said about DS roles being closer to what you described as analyst or "normal" FB roles and our ML and Research roles being more on the modeling and algorithms side.

Just out of curiosity, what do you do at Google Brain and why are you considering leaving?
I work ML product applications + research. I'm very happy but it is financially advantageous to move around every few years due to wage compression.
