Got rejected by Microsoft for Data & Analytics Scientist role. Job description and feedback after the interviews raises some questions for improvements 1. What are the key skills and tools to have for Data and Applied Scientist positions at Microsoft? 2. Are the phone interviewers looking for past projects, coding and algorithm skills? Any particular skills like Spark or Hadoop? 3. Does choosing Java for coding problems instead of Python make any difference? Java seems to be the primary language in CTCI and some other resources. Thank you
Were you given a business problem , (particular to that org), to solve ? If yes, how did you approach it ? Lot depends on what you were asked and what you answered. Also, sometimes, its just that they feel that you did good but someone else is a better fit for certain reasons.
No business problems given. Rather first interview involved ML modeling questions. Next interviewer asked details about my past projects and asked coding question which I was able to solve. It was not clear to me that from the interviews what type of ML skills and coding skills Microsoft is looking for.
Which team / org / building number ? Its interesting because for me i was not asked a whole lot of soft dev questions but focussed more on the approach to business problems.
They asked me a while back on probabilities too... didn’t make sense
Yeah, right! By the way, did you get an offer? What skills and background did you had to have that time?
What was the interview process like?
Could you give info regarding the interview rounds and questions asked?
Can you provide interview details? Also what's your background?
Kindly check my comment above.
