Data science vs BIE AMAZON
Hello guys, I got two internship offers from Amazon Luxembourg one as a data scientist the other as a BIE, what do you think I should choose ? PS : I'll graduate this year with a MSc(cs) and a MBA.
DS . No brainier.
Because of tc ?
I believe data scientists work is more challenging and more valuable

Arguments maybe ?
Why would you even pick BIE if you are being given a role in tech job family with higher salary and hopefully work that does not involve only building ‘metrics’ in excel? Even if you do more than excel it won’t be enough to justify it as meaningful work since you don’t have the coveted title. Unless you feel like excel is your best friend and you don’t want to be considered more than a rote metrics/sql writer, I would say do yourself a favor and pick DS. Also, I am sure there will be 0 issues if you want to move from DS to BIE but the other way round is an uphill task
Thank you that's really helpful, cause during the interview they said that they build data pipelines and the tech is advenced in the BI team...
That’s true to some extent with the only issue being that BIE is still considered a non-tech job family
it really depends on the team, DS is glorified nowadays but it is also highly replaceable. if you like building ML models and the DS team has great data foundation, go for DS. If you like building data pipeline and the BIE team does what they claimed, go for BIE
Go for the DS one. BIE has no career progression within amzn.
