I received three offers for a cloud architect / cloud consultant role at Google, AWS and a third company. I would really love to accept Google offer but the comp is just okay. The 3rd company has a really great culture and high impact on the organization. Is it worth it to go with the other company for 1/2 years and try to get a better role/offer a Google? Does declining Google make it more likely to get a better offer next time? GCP: L5 160/25/320 over 4 years AWS: 160/45/100 3rd: 190/25/0 + 50k signing 9 yoe in infrastructure, devops, cloud
Is this a sales position? Because if it is you will never attain 100% due to ridiculous high goals. Also, what is the 3rd company?
Client facing but not sales. Helping clients plan and design their cloud infrastructure before migrating or building new services. The third is HBO.
Honestly, if you like to help customers and have meaningful conversations with customers, while working on the next big thing, go with AWS.
Google won’t compete?
The recruiter asked me for copies of emails and offer letter to document the other options. But after reviewing them, she told me the other comps are lower than Google so the compensation analysis team will probably not adjust the offer.
Oh well she probably wouldn’t lie about that, unless you see an issue with how they computed the amounts?
What’s the second number? I assumed annual bonus but that should be 0 for Amazon. I assume it’s not sign on because you factor that out for HBO.
It is the cash bonus. 45k the first year, 35k the second.
Is the third Airbnb?
So just to provide an update and some closure, I accepted Google offer and joined this week the New York office. So far, everything is great and the people I have meet are super passionate and friendly.
I'm about to interviewer for this role. Please let me know what to look out for and be prepared for. Again I'm not trying to get the specific questions asked during the interview but the high-level topics to brush up etc.,
It will have no impact. Can’t tell from your offers but it seems Google TC is the best (although it’s really an L4 offer).
My thought exactly. Apparently, cloud consultants, sales or customer engineers are paid one level below SWE or SRE profiles.
