I did; and I felt great.
I'm doing the slow delete. I've started by doing a 30 day mute on the most irritating people first, and yeah, it's wonderful.
But you’re still on Instagram.

Do you guys still keep messenger? I hardly use actual FB so it's not a big deal to delete but messenger is somewhat useful for keeping in touch with groups
I switched to Facebook lite a while back. Its so bad I hardly ever want to look at it. I still can if there's a specific reason to though.
It’s not a good idea to share your personal life to strangers (I mean Facebook “friends”) after all. Some of those strangers may be lurking criminals, racists, liars, sexists, ... you name it. Instead, connect to your family and real-life friends who support you, love you, and help you live a fulfilling life.
Why do you have such bad "friends"? Connecting with friends and family is the purpose; why did you friend people you didn't know?
Some people treat fb as the equivalent of trading social business cards. Causing them to friend randos they met while traveling or at a party in optimism that they may reconnect in the future. And for the added validation metric "I have lots of friends, therefore I must be popular and well-liked" which is childish but hey some people never learn the lesson of quality over quantity in HS. That being said: fb never properly handled privacy to address those cases where people add randos as friends. Privacy should be gradual progression of info being viewable as the two people interact more and more across the fb ecosystem. So at the very beginning you add a friend and they only have access to basics like name + profile pic and ability to message or tag in posts. Then as the two interact more fb notifies the users: hey looks like you two are getting along, would like to let so and so see more of your profile? Etc Gradual progression of trust being built over time is directly analogous to how people function in real life (arguably even across cultures, only difference here is how long that progression takes in a given culture).
