I'll let folks read from the full text of the article, but want to make three points: 1) We need to think globally when thinking about penalizing our most innovative industry pioneers - we want to attract future innovators to the US, retain the ones we grow organically, and assure we breed the innovators/innovations that will assure we remain a global leader in the future. 2) Does anyone really believe that the Socialist wing of the Democrats will simply stop at the billionaires? 3) Bill Gates is an example of a great philanthropist. He has given over $30 billion to various charitable causes, not to mention his time and thought leadership. Does anyone really believe the Federal government is more efficient and innovative than his foundations? I wonder what Bill has to say about a Warren or Sanders presidential bid...I suspect he might instead back someone like Howard Schultz, still WAY too liberal for me, but at least he doesn't live in an alternate sense of reality. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/markets/democrats-plans-to-tax-wealth-would-reshape-us-economy/ar-AAI6nwx
Don’t believe a single word this woman says. The only thing that’s clear is her naked lust for power, And that she’ll say or do anything to get it.
Bill Gates is a tax evader. He should pay his taxes and then do his “charity”. Doesn’t mean I support Warren’s wealth tax.
Billionaires only collect that much wealth because they have stolen the labor of those below them. Philanthropy doesnt negate the thousands of people their billionaire status condemns to poverty and death.
No one on blind is applicable to these wealth taxes lmao
First they came for ... yada yada. You will eventually run out of rich people’s money.
Tax rates were much higher in the past for the ultra wealthy, they didn’t flee the country then. If they want to go, let them. They can fund their own defense and international policy without the backing of the US government. Similar silly arguments are made at the state level, yet 40% of billionaires still reside in New York and California. When they actually start fleeing, then we can worry about changing policy.
Instead of taxing wealth, just take out the long term capital gains tax and tax all income as ordinary income. That is the reason Warren Buffett pays lower taxes than you and me
Cool. Looks good.
They want more of billionaires money. You work at MS, you are just a small fish
Populism. The road to hell is paved with unintended consequences.
I’m a people, why is populism bad for me? My point is just that a government by and for the people would actually be populist and that in and of it’s self is not a bad thing. It might be actually what we’ve been missing for 100+ years
To your point, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. But that’s more of a warning against naïve utopian thinking versus populism per se.
