Denied interview
I was recently denied an in person interveiw for having a 60 day work gap in my history 4 years ago. I graduated from college in December of 15 and didnt find my first job until June. I have been with the same company ever since. The thing is I got married the day after graduation. Moved states for my wifes job. Lost our baby at 17 weeks pregnant. all before finally landing a job. I explained all this to the company. Do you think their HR is being harsh? Sincerely - A guy who needs to catch a break
Seems very harsh and probably illegal if that’s the reason for HR to deny an interview. Are you sure that’s the reason for it?
Not illegal - it’s not a protected area. What would be illegal - not interviewing someone because they went to a historically black school, things like that.
Why would you explain all that? Everyone says they took a few months off to travel and recharge or something along those lines. No need to reveal personal details of your life.

Consider yourself lucky to be denied an interview. If they deny an interview for such a stupid reason, imagine what other asinine HR policies they have once you're employed with them

Hello - I was looking for any sort of Entry level IT position. I went to school for MIS but have been working in logistics for a few years. I have an interview on Thursday with Jasco Products in Edmond.

Also why is having gaps in resume frowned upon? What if someone decides they want to take a 6 month vacation between two jobs for no reason?
True. Infact people with gaps live life passionately and that's one key element to look for in successful hires.
