Depressed tech workers

I see a lot of posts on here about people being depressed because of life strsses. I fear if I stay here long enough I may go down that path too. So I am thinking of moving back to my home country ( where are my parents are and wlb is practised and preached). Has any one else in this situation tried making a big life change to make it better? Are you happier now?

I left the US 2.5 years ago for Sweden and couldn’t be happier. Just do it. Life it too short to be wound up all the time.

Why you want to hear from other if you don't want to be like other?

It better to learn from other people's sufferings than to go through your self to decide if it was good or bad.

Yeah but if they are suffering they don't have solution. Most of the people are working 5days a week to spend on rest 2days

Happiness is what you define it to be. You can always look at the grass at the other side to be green and get depressed. Prioritize what is important for you. Listen to it and don't ever regret the decision you take.

Stress doesn’t cause depression. It can make an existing depression hard to climb out of though. My buddy in a startup worked hard in a very stressful environment, but was never depressed. One of the most upbeat optimistic guys I knew. If stress caused depression, he would have cracked for sure. I think a lot of it has to do with whether you’re in control or not. My buddy was in control, and that made all the difference.

Plenty of comedians seemed optimistic too... Anyway, its easier to give advice to someone than to internalize it.

Because your buddy isn't affected by stress doesn't mean he's a reflection of the rest of the world. It's usually a combination of factors but stress plays a big part.

Happiness is a state of mind - FU** work! You determine all - do what you feel is right

I moved to the US 2 years ago. I’ve never seen so many depressed people in my life. Ironically I’ve never seen so many rich people in my life..
