Anyone else here suffers from clinical depression?
Yes. I’m. And I don’t think I’ll ever get out of it. In fact, lot of people are depressed. But they deny it because they don’t know the difference between having fun and being happy.
Yes. 20+ years. I wish I could say it gets better but sometimes you just have to learn to manage it. Check in with a therapist from time to time. Consider trying medication, works for some people but not for everyone.
My depression comes from my divorce
If no kids involved, would u still be depressed?
Yup. Ebbs and flows
Two kids, ex wife left me, Kids don’t know much about me, too young, gotta ducking continue working for that b, and she doesn’t work
I’m so f**k up, I’d rather die
Hang in mate... kids will need you and you’ll get time to build relationships w them. Small gestures like a card or monthly outing build indelible memories.
Just want to give you a big bear hug my friend. This will pass one day as well. Your kindness and ethics is what your kids need you as role model. Let me know if you want to talk to me via dm. I have been through 3 layoffs in last 3 years.. last time I took a year break to resolve my psychological issues from childhood. This was holding me back.. hopefully I will do well in my new job but the scars of precious layoffs are hard to go away. Not saying your problem is same as mine but just that there are others going through other king of struggles. I have a 18 month boy and I can now understand the pressure to provide for your family when you yourself are not in right mental state.
Yes. Been in therapy for >1 yr and recently realized it isn't getting really better. Got another session on Monday and I think I'll ask for a referral to a psychiatrist to get a prescription for anti-depressants.
I've been on anti-depressants on/off for more than 10 years now:(
Do you feel like they help? A friend started taking them and recently mentioned how much better life is without this constant mental fog :/
No one can help me, therapists just sat there and didn’t give good advice
It often takes time to find the right therapist. If the first one isn't helpful there's someone else out there that may be more helpful.
Look for a different one . I met one who I felt understood me better than the ones before that.. it is not easy to find a good match.
The right medication helps but it's a process to find the right fit
YES.
What helped you to get better?
I never did. Learned to accept it as a way of life just like diabetes or something else. Do the usuals like cleaning your room and making your bed every morning, exercising, eating healthy and sunlight/vitamin D.
