Did anyone make it out of PIP?

Just an honest question. I'd like to hear more about people getting genuinely put into PIP (slipping performance) and recovering back into normal status within their respective company. Not to the folks that got put into PIP for some elaborate way of getting fired. Also, how did you feel about being put into PIP even though you thought that you were performing well? TC: 100k

Pip is usually a job fit issue. Best to find success elsewhere.

Bezos did, result was a divorce.

How is that you made it into PIP? Did you get warning messages?

I think if you get a pip you should find a different team / company ( assuming you did your bit and think it’s unfair )

Should ask your associate, @namastebro.

Nah. It was part of an elaborate scheme. They eventually just said for me to pretend the PIP never happened. Smh.

I've put four people on PIPs at other companies. Two I fired, two recovered.

Why did you put them on PIPs?

Tableau Ydobon Jan 20, 2019

Because they were struggling. No politics involved, no quotas, no bullshit. They were having problems. I worked with all four and two were able to get it together.

Best to go! In software engineering it’s very easy to just fail upwards

That's exactly what I'm doing.

A PIP shouldn't be a surprise. Meaning, your performance should have been discussed several times before ending up on a PIP. I have seen employees successfully move off of a PIP and I have seen others fail. I don't believe in putting anyone on a PIP who I know can't improve. Good luck to you.
