Did being attractive helped your professional and personal lives?

Today we are going to discuss the power and implication of being perceived as attractive and having a genetic lottery. I have firsthand saw the leverage it gives on interview and day to day work. Many will deny the existence of it but subconsciously we all use it. This is why you get nervous to talk to ask out a very hot woman or man. The interviewers suddenly get energy as soon as some attractive candidate walks in after a long day.

Is that why company HR or recruiters tend to be attractive especially the ones who are a university recruiting?

I have seen people giving more time and attention to the new employee who is attractive. All that for a woman being attractive and being considered not smart is a joke. We have examples Marisa Meyer, Susan Wojcicki, Ann Wojcicki, Sheryl Sandberg, Do you have any experience you want to share?

Your spouse gives you extra attention and proudly confides in you.

Is it safe to say being attractive makes life so easier in personal and professional?

The Indian posts daily I see on the struggle to meet women here points looks are maybe the most important factor in finding a partner.

Some of my exes have accepted they really like the attention and how everyone tries to flirt with them?

Stable Marriage algorithm nails the prototype very well.

Unattractive man here; I am partially blind and have a lazy eye which creeps people out, plus I can't get the center of my face to line up with others because my visual field is so limited.

I imagine it was worked against me in every way, but then again I've never inhabited any other body so I can't really make a conclusion.

I dated someone with a lazy eye. Didn’t care, the personality was amazing, as was our bond. But I avoid dating overtly attractive people. Things come too easily to beautiful people.

Source: grew up ugly, then “blossomed”. Assholes were suddenly nice to me. Eventually realized we all have something to offer, and looks have zero bearing on relationship outcomes if you don’t have relationship skills.

I agree, but you can't acquire relationship skills if you never get opportunities to be in relationships. My wife - the only partner I've ever had - also has a lazy eye and noticed me because of it. I'd bet your man is extremely thankful for the chance you took on him.

Definitely makes a difference. I can even tell on days when I spend more time on my appearance/dress up, people react to me differently. Part of it could be them reacting to my own greater sense of confidence when I don’t look like a slob lol, but even adjusting for that I think people tend to be nicer, open doors, etc.

This is true one lady was telling a story on YouTube where she had to go the mall two times and first time in the morning she didn't have hey makeup on or proper clothes and second time she did. She passed the same people both times and got a much better reaction the second time around

I know someone who had an interview and I guess her eyes and the interviewers eyes made contact and there was a moment. So not sure if she got the job because of her work or because of that moment.

We are biologically driven that way. Attractiveness triggers good gene pool which makes us think those are the superior species. We are unconsciously taking decisions based on the looks. HR people are attractive because it is a marketing strategy for the company. Same concept apply everywhere, why there is attractive models on TV advertisements, why the Hollywood is filled with attractive actors. Though this can be temporary but it is an instantaneous result.

Good use of analogy and well put into words. Companies claim to be indiscriminative yet the HR is made up of it. A cliche of equality 2.0.

🤣 Companies don't claim to be indiscriminate of looks. This is why "culture fit" exists.

Of course it does. The fact that you have to ask the question just means you aren’t in tune with reality yet and you believe in “hopeful lies” decent people tell you to try to paint a good ole world that doesn’t exist.

It’s ok, I’ve been in your shoes too. Life and learn.

Unfortunately, it’s true. In my experience very attractive people get what they want much more easily, and don’t work as hard for the same pay. I know a very attractive and confident sounding woman, dumb as a box of rocks and doesn’t do crap at a genetics company. Makes $180k base. Barely even goes to the office. She won’t last long, but she will leverage this job at her next one and the cycle starts again.

I think it does. In my case I think the reason is bcoz I feel more confident when I dress up well with makeup and that’s what makes me attractive. I am able to deliver my thoughts well when I am confident and it has always helped me.

It’s important to look healthy and well-groomed. Pretty much anyone can manage that. Beyond that the returns are diminishing unless you look good for a living (e.g. model, actor).

Not true. It is a matter of how far you got by the time it starts to diminish. You will have a partner, money, and living on your own rules in your pocket.
