Being recruited for a Director level job at Facebook leading 2 teams plus more, but I'm worried about some of the potential future peers I spoke with about their work. They all were overwhelmed and when I asked if they tracked their time or how they evaluated their effectiveness - their answers fell very flat. They really felt like an ineffective overworked group of people just trying to keep their job. 1) if you're not a director at fb: teams you would avoid joining leadership of? Or are they just crap w/ middle management in general? 2) if you are, I'd love to hear what your experience was managing your goals and meeting them without complete loss of personal life. For some context, I'm currently at Google in a director role, and I don't have many leadership connections at Facebook.
Directors at Facebook being overworked... I could only laugh at that... If they are overwhelmed that is because they are clueless about the area they are leading and spending most of their time trying to play leadership games instead of going to the grass roots (which I guess they consider it to be beneath their dignity). There are always exceptions but I doubt you talked to them.

TC or GTFO
Most of the directors I interacted with have to be very politically savvy and spend all their time in playing games and politics. As I read in an article recently, you have to be a care bear to your people and play game of thrones with your peers and the top. I have mixed feelings, but at least you get paid for it. Am assuming this is a D1.
I'll appreciate a link to the article if you can find it
How is being a director at Google? How is the interview process for Director role at Google?
Is this director of engineering?
What’s less political - Director at Google or Director at FB?
Why would you leave Google for FB. I have been trying hard to get into Google at a director position.
