Discrimination?

So my employer is looking for a manager. I express med interest in the position but it was quietly dismissed. Today I get a LinkedIn message about the same position at my employer and it clearly says “management experience not required and the employer will pay for all cert and renewals.” I am Latino, do my work right and get along with everyone. This is the same employer who let a senior position be taken away instead of giving it to me when I applied for it. Discrimination or am I reaching here?

Was there any other incident that leads to believe discrimination. It could also be that he does not see potential or variety of other reasons..

‘I do my job’ does not a manager make... Your employer simply sees u as a worker bee, not a manager or even a lead... may be ask your manager what you need to do/change to be considered for a lead/mgr position...

Why are you hopping straight to discrimination based on race? I’m willing to bet if you confronted him right now about this whole thing, he’d give you a whole laundry list of reasons why he doesn’t want you as manager. On the bright side, maybe you’re just really good at what you do and he thinks it’d be harder to find a replacement for your current role than the one of a manager.

Hiring underrepresented minorites is huge in tech right now - so, in certain cases, it's benefitting you. Nevertheless, I wouldn't give it another thought.

This case is also an example of why hiring minorities is such a liability. If you don’t hire minorities, you get sued for discrimination. If you do hire minorities, you still get sued for discrimination.
