Also dividends are bad. They're taxed as ordinary income, so no long term gains discount. It's better if the stock just goes up that much rather than paying out the div

Usually the ones with the best yield are throwing off unsustainable amounts, and the stock keeps dropping. Better to analyze fundamentals.
