Do H1B hires have a hard time with career progression ?

YOE: 4 TC: 115K Been a level 2 dev for over 3 years now. Been a big part of major releases. Also own whole projects all by myself. Never received any complaints. Meanwhile I've seen people come in much later than I have and getting promoted while still being deemed not ready for going on call !! It's a bit demoralizing and frustrating since you can't just call it quits and leave for some other company since the whole visa thing needs to be redone. Wondering if there is anyone facing similar issues.

Depends on company. For example, I didn't know that my direct report was on H1B before he told me. My decisions on recommendations for comp increase and promotions could not have been related to the visa status. But some companies use it to underpay and do whatever they want. I was on L1 a couple of years ago. That was even worse. You are just a slave. Literally. Hated it
