My last working day is on a Friday and I am joining the new organization on the following Monday.

We are doing a road trip that involves 14 hours driving and I am not sure if I should go without insurance.

Generally you have to pay for it.

You can retroactively buy cobra so you don’t need to pay anything for your first like 90 days of a job ending.

Only pay for cobra if you need it, or are getting close to the window closing

Check with your employer but i do believe that your insurance is active until the end of the month, even if you are quitting now

You are fine, you can apply for cobra retroactively if you have to. But your insurance might not expire until end of month anyways.

You can sign up for cobra retroactively (I believe up to 30 days later). I’ve been in this situation and did not pay for insurance in the two day gap.

If I’d had medical expenses in those two days, I’d have signed up for cobra retroactively.

I know it sounds too paranoid but with the emergency room costs, it's scary to be without insurance. But looks like COBRA got my back.

In some companies insurance lasts until the end of the month. In others it ends on the last day of employment.
But COBRA provides retroactive coverage as others pointed out so no need to get insurance to cover a small gap.
