Do other companies offer compensation competitive to one at Google/Apple/FB?
Do startups, financial institutions and such really offer compensation on the level with big technology companies? Recruiters often reach out to me but I am skeptical and do not want to waste mine (and their) time. I.e. $400k+ as a senior SWE - what companies will pay outside the big tech?

If you want to be an individual contributor you’d have to go to a quantitative hedge fund. Citadel Investment Group, Renaissance Technologies, Point72 etc, small quantitative hedge funds.
