Amazon stock appreciation in last 6 years pretty well exceeds any other tech. If that levels off, there's a lot less financial reasons to stay at Amazon. Imo Amazon is out innovating the rest of FANG, though there are certainly a whole bunch of pain for engineers.

Netflix doesn't PIP they just terminate on the spot. I don't know how that works for H1B people. As an American, I would walk out if I was pivoted at Amazon anyway.
So PIP at Amazon does seem to be better than outright fire at FB and NFLX

When you get into amazon, pray hard that you don’t get into legacy teams with lot of technical debt. I was in one of them and it was the worst. Spent two years to get some decent RSUs and packed my bags. Job right now is mediocre but wlb is what I wanted and got here.
Yep, team to team culture variation is a lot higher at Amazon then other big companies. Also why there's very varied perspectives of Amazon. I've been on 4 teams, 1 great, 2 good, 1 awful.
