I know that h1 holders get 60 days grace period if they are fired/laid off. But does that apply if they quit ? I guess yes but wanted to confirm
Yes. Confirmed with attorneys.
Ofcourse However here’s a nuance a lot of people miss: After 60 days, you’re out of status After i-94 date passes, you’re unlawfully present. This is when you’re actually in trouble
It seems there is a condition that you can use 60 days period only once per validity period.
Is working at Facebook is so much soul killing that you are thinking to taking such drastic decisions. Enlighten us why you want to do this.
Yeah I am doing because of the crappy wlb and review process at FB. I just can’t take this crap anymore. There’s a review cycle the end of this month, h1 performance review and H2 planning meetings have started. I had some personal issues this half and wasn’t able to put in much “impact” (aka hack). Manager scaring me about the review outcome. Want to gtfo ASAP. I have G offer but BAL is taking forever to file transfer.
Sad story bro. > Manager is scaring me about the review outcome. I think if you have offer from G, just hang in and sit tight. Might have to go through this for couple of months until BAL @ G files for transfer. Does your Manager know about personal issue. Might help if he has context. Ask your Manager directly, what will it take to not be on blacklist (PIP) Get BAL guys start on your case ASAP. Last year USCIS had suspended premium in beginning of September, and hope you do not get stuck with such weird scenarios.
Just have a mental breakdown and go on a 60 day sick leave which they can't fire you over. Then once that's over, quit and have another 60 days
What exactly do you mean by bad WLB. Can you elaborate? What they say impact what exactly does it mean and why will they fire if just didn’t perform for one half of Year
Bad WLB means unrealistic expectation and strict evaluation. Lot of pressure to perform which results in high stress and long hours
BAL filled my transfer today, leaving FB end of next week . Hopefully should have the receipt by then
At least wait until the receipt arrives before giving your resignation. You are almost there.
How long does it take for the receipt to arrive ?
Dude, I'm 100 percent sure you haven't taken any vacation days yet. Go on a pto and use up your days
Yes. I quit recently. Didn't get a job in 60 days, applied for H4 petition and got the receipt. Got a job after 90 days, Applied for H1 transfer COS premium. Got approved in 4 days without any issues.

Why do you wanna quit on a H1, inviting immi issues?
I know right. People love to push it to the limit.
