Stop asking Blind for permission and go make a kickass pitch. Then go ride elevators all day.
I have a pretty compelling "this is what I wanted to do since I was 18 and this is exactly what I did to work towards it" and i think that works really well

If it doesn't feel genuine and/or overrehearsed, it can be a real turnoff.
