For people who own Tesla without ability to charge at home or apartment, how is the experience? Should you buy Tesla without charging at home?

depends on work charge availability and electric cost. in the bay, with PG&E charging .35/kWh, charging at home can cost as much as gas per mile. however you can go down to .15 at night with the EV-A rate
I live in a condo and charge from work. No other option for reasonably priced electricity rates.
It's annoying but it's way cheaper than fueling up. I only need to do it once I week as well. If I had to do it everyday that would be painful.
How about super charger stations?
I asked this same question before I bought my Nissan Leaf. It’s weird to change your thinking from “filling up on your way home from work” to “plugging in at your destination” but that’s what you have to do. The super charging stations can be expensive and inconvenient. They are meant more for long distance travel or emergency charging. Find a way to charge at home or at work. Download the “PlugShare” app. You’ll be surprised at how many stations are near your work. If you can find a way to install a dryer outlet where you park, that’s all you need.
If you can figure out a way to install a 220 volt line to your garage (or parking spot) with an outlet that works for a dryer or a stove (or you may already have one), then you’re all set. They sell chargers that plug into those.
there is no need for 220v. 110v gives you 40mi already, and the transmission/conversion losses vs 220v are only about 3%
I would not recommend owning a Tesla and only having 110 to charge it. I think you’d regret that.
I’m about to get a Tesla because my apartment has free charging for electric vehicles. Guess I’m super lucky.
We have a Bolt and charge at work, Whole Foods, etc. The time saver is charging while you are doing something else. A lot of the state parks have free EV charging, for example.
How long does it take to charge your car in typical public charging stations?
About 45 min to an hour to fast charge.
I have a BMW i3 you can charge in any outlet it’s just slower. My biggest issue has been finding free chargers at work and people rudely charging all day when there’s ostensibly a 4 hour limit. Also one company I worked at had Chargepoint paid chargers only so it was actually cheaper just to fill up the backup REX tank with decomposed dinosaur.
Do it everyday
