Do you support putting a drug friendly homeless shelter in South Lake Union?

Seattle council is proposing to build a shelter for drug addicts where drug use will be tolerated, and will locate this facility in South Lake Union near the Amazon campus. Do you support this?

FYI there is a public meeting to discuss the proposal on May 31, 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m. @ 415 Westlake Ave N in the Westlake Event Space

Lol this is what you get for paying the big employer tax: physical danger.

Wtf is wrong with this world? Is this where my tax money going? Jfc.

Your tax money was also used to attract that homeless criminal druggie from Texas to Seattle so that he got the chance to rape a woman in an Audi dealership under the daylight. Democrats have been saying all these homeless are poor victims who couldn't afford horsing because of Amazon. Big fat lie.

[SOLVED] I propose buying each homeless a one-way ticket to SF. Nice weather and stuff, you know.

Amtrak could use the business

Reno is already doing that, and not with homeless but mental patients. They release them from the institution onto a bus that goes to SF. Google the lawsuit.

Seriously?!

Fuck appeasement and fuck the Seattle city council.

This is what is being done with your $275: installing a shelter for addicts by your work. Women at Amazon will now need to think twice about working late or walking on the street around Amazon or parking in the area.

Why are you so quick to associate drug use/addiction with violent action? It’s true that some drug users/addicts will be violent, just as a portion of the general population is violent. There are plenty of nonviolent drug users and addicts. I’m a woman and don’t feel that I’ll need to ‘think twice’ about walking on the streets or parking in the area...at least not any more than I already have to now.

Most street crime is associated with drug use. Causation can run either way: Addicts often turn to crime to fund their addiction, and many are themselves victims of violence/abuse which is in turn cyclically associated with committing violent crimes. In any case the association exists. I bet you don't hang out on 2nd Ave Ext by yourself after dark. I'm a man and I don't even feel safe in that area by daylight.

It requires a 6-page document and a good story telling. The HQ is a great place for treatment and a good place to grow weeds.

Bandaid solution with large blowback potential. Based on resources and legal liability constraints, maybe it’s the ‘best’ option but I think we all can agree that there are likely far better solutions. This is a space (mental illness / addiction treatment) with massive potential for R&D / innovation. @Facebook @Google where you at?
