Do you think today’s Apple event was crap and rushed under pressure from Wall Street

I think today’s event was not needed. Nothing ready except Apple news. Should have been announced in Fall.

You gotta be really naive to think you're not selling your privacy to Apple.

It is revolutionary because they get all of your transaction data and can start running ads. Do you think all that noise Tim created around privacy and Facebook was random? They desperately need to get into the ads business. How do they deliver ads? Well, you need TV and magazines - here we go - it all makes sense.

I think it’s more of an extension of Apple Pay platform than an ads play

You could tell where Jobs’ plans ran out a few years later and the executives picked up.

News won’t generate the subscribers they’re thinking. Only a select, niche market, pay for news. Gonna floppy flop fop

Subscription all the things is indicative they have a bunch of MBA grads from the 2000s.

The news industry has been struggling to make money, but of course Apple thinks it can revolutionize it. Gone are the days of Steve Jobs.

I think it looked bad to be going on about how important journalism is right after everyone realized we wasted two years listening to (Pulitzer Prize-winning) Russian collusion conspiracies.

^reports about individuals turned out true leading to guilty verdicts and jail time. Roger Stone. Paul Manafort. That guy that looks like Been Stiller.

The charges don’t have anything to do with collusion (the purpose of the investigation) though. Otherwise the report would not have concluded there was no collusion.

  • For consumers the individual announcements were not sexy enough, but for share holders, this is all great news. Credit card is a great way to generate a lot of cash.

If recession is coming it would be the time when defaults on credit increase.
When creditors cant pay, you either sue the card holder, which is a bad headline or sell the debt for pennies on the dollar.

How is an annual event rushed?

Some of what was announced is available today. Why wait for fall?

That isn’t the point of brand marketing.

Apple has put out a lot of updates this month. Now is the time to get out these updates well in advance of WWDC so teams can focus on what will be announced in that keynote. After many long weeks teams can take a little break after WWDC before getting back into it for the fall releases. I see nothing out of line with the event yesterday.

Already liking news+, but they should have saved the hardware announcements for yesterday to make it feel like a more traditional apple event. Especially the iPads which they could of touted as news/magazine/gaming devices.
