TC: depends. Some background for the poll. I never tip a Uber/Lyft driver but thought that the driver might know from my profile and refuse to take my request. I view tipping as a way for companies to exploit their customers and employees. They should pay their employee a living wage up front and show a transparent price to their customers too. Thoughts?
How sad and weird. All of you show off your TCs and not even tip $3-4 ? Pathetic...
Stop promoting ridiculous awkward tipping culture.
Horrible culture. If you don't give it in restaraurant next time may be treated you as second class citizen
No. Tips are inefficient and bad for the person receiving them
Wow I’m surprised to see so many ppl answered a no. I though Uber drivers will curse me if I don’t tip and hence I end up paying 10% extra for every trip .. Hate this stupid tip culture
Tips are generally considered appreciation for the good service provided. Not something I should pay a uber driver because he is paid less by uber. Tipping everywhere is becoming senseless. No, I don’t tip uber/ lyft. Something like sit down restaurants - between 5-20% depending on service. No tips for take out
You actually tip 5%....?
If service is not good, give review. Reduce your frequency accordingly. Whatever. No tip
I really don’t get the justification to not tip drivers, can someone explain? Most Restaurants artificially set their prices low to get you in. They underpay for labor because they’re betting you’ll make up the 15-30% gap, and that volume can get wait staff even more money potentially. Tipping is not based on service, every study has proven this. Uber/Lyft, especially Uber, artificially set their prices low to get you to use the service. They underpay and even take a significant cut from drivers (25-65% depending on the fare and how long it is). Uber doesn’t even try to promote tipping. Imagine opening your paystub to see 1) 25% gone from taxes, 2) 27% gone from your employer.
Relying Dynamics(tip) is worst. F* US labor laws.
Occasionally, only if I liked something. Doesn't happen often
