Agreed! I don't tip unless I'm planning on coming back frequently. And then I'm only tipping because I don't want the waiter to spit in the food. Doordash... literally never had a repeat driver, plus they don't know which house didn't tip that night, plus they get extra comp for houses that don't tip.
:( so sad to see the low # of tipper here and this is supposed to be the high earner cohort. DoorDash delivery only makes $5 per delivery. Between waiting for the order, going to a restaurant and trying to find your house, a lot of time and gas were spent. Have some compassion. I at least tip to make sure the driver has $10 per hour. The same for Lyft and Uber drivers. This is a very expensive place to live. I tip well for others as well like TaskRabbit, Takl etc.
Then don’t use doordash. If you use them then tip the drivers. If you think it’s exploitative then go drive yourself. It’s not that hard to figure out. Think a server in the restaurant is part off restaurant offloading responsibilities to you? Then simple, don’t eat out or patron the restaurants or else, tip. They barely make minimum wages as it is.
Wtf? How do you have the rights to tell someone else not using doordash? The app has my credit card number, I shop there base on the price numbers I see and they charge my card the seen amount. It’s a fair transaction. Tipping doesn’t make you a better person. I pay tax to the country, a lot.
I tip many folks in the service industry well since they are more in need of my change than I am. They work a fairly thankless job with no chance at meaningful career development let alone time to learn. That being said, Washington is a rare state that even tipped workers get the minimum wage ($11.50/hr currently), so not tipping as much isn't as bad as other states.
