Do you tip your cleaner?
I'm from another country and not sure if I should tip my cleaner?
If they do a great job and you appreciate what they are doing for you, then yes. Doubly so if they do not work for themselves.
But am I not paying for them doing their job? And me contracting them again would be an incentive to do a good job. Explain the tip? My director doesn’t tip me for doing a good job on a project. I am getting paid to do my job and my continued employment is the incentive. How is this any different?
Do you not get a bonus at the end of the year that is thousands of dollars? Your yearly perf bonus is your tip.
At a hotel - yes. And daily as they may change who cleans your room daily. At your home - not necessary unless they have gone above and beyond. But definitely give a bonus (= cost of one cleaning) at Christmas.

Yes. In the US, tips are a significant portion of workers' earnings - big enough to require a mention in tax forms.
Our cleaner comes every 2 weeks. She is coming to our home from last 1.5 years. We don’t tip her but give Christmas and New year gift. On Christmas, we gift her the same amount what she charges us on bi-weekly basis. It is cash/check. On new year, we give $30-$40 gift.
Your cleaner will like you way more if you skip the gift and go straight for the cash bonus! Would you like part of your annual bonus to be comprised of water bottles, apparel, office supplies, and Knick-Knacks? You are the employer here
As an employer, this is what my budget permits me. If she doesn’t like it, she is absolutely free to leave and work somewhere else. Thanks!

Yes
