I see a lot of posts. I see people who were slightly late on one deliverable due to unrealistic expectations get fired. I see some obnoxious Amazon manager post on here that he has higher standards than google (cause he is a dick). Does amazon constantly fire people? Like if I went will I see musical chairs around me? Is it one of those places where you are afraid to talk about people who just vanish?
You are asking if amzn fires 60,000 people a year?
Ok, let's narrow down to just alexa? Do you think amzn is firing 1,200 people a year?
Facebook you really think Alexa has 12000 devs?? Lol. Alexa hires lot of contractor for listening to your recordings. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.buzzfeednews.com/amphtml/nicolenguyen/amazon-employees-listening-to-alexa-echo-recordings
There's a high turnover rate.
Oddly though almost the same turnover as Google despite Google having free lunches and other cushy perks while Amazon only has free bananas. Every big tech has a high turnover.
True.
They must be fallen victims of starvation wages, not fired
The tech butts in seat are probably 90k. I don’t we fire 9k every year. Probably piped folks on blind looking for justification
The 10/6 rule is true. So we do have 10% on notice every year
How many are contractors vs FTE. BofA turned contractor attrition into an art form.
10% is your LEs meaning they need coaching or to be put on a PIP (well pivot now I guess). I think the current number is 6% need to be put on a PIP. Some of those people who were put on a PIP make it off the PIP (no idea how common, random guess from what I saw was 15% of people on a PIP male it off). The other 4% are not likely to go on PIP that year (though I’m sure some low % does). So no it’s not 10% it’s 6% and probably around 5% get fired.
Way less than 5% get fired because lots of people start a job search the moment they get put into coaching and leave well before they would get fired.
Is a dev plan/coaching formal or informal?
5 people pipped in my team of less than 40 people in 3 years. Only 1 of them was a genuine low performer and at least 1 of them was what you would consider technically sharp.
