I'm negotiating with recruiter who is asking for offer letter. Just wondering if they have any policy regarding that..

They might but unless you are an absolute doofus do NOT give one company's document to another. There might be PII or a million other small details on there you don't have disclosure rights for.
Further opinion depends on whether the recruiter is internal or external.

How could there be PII in an offer letter? There are no such thing as disclosure rights for offer letters. They aren't given under NDA.

In California there is a common law principle (upheld by the California Supreme Court) called good faith and fair dealing. I've had multiple attorneys tell me that everything covered in an NDA is already illegal to disclose, unless you get permission to disclose.

I'd be very comfortable saying "I don't feel comfortable disclosing that".

Never give out that information. They have no right to it and it puts you at a negotiating disadvantage.

apple with know that you will swap their offer with other companies. so they will send you offer letter only at last when they realise that you will accept their offer. also they will give you an expiring offer which is valid for a small time, cause you can get a better offer based on their current offer

Yes Apple won’t send anything in written until after negotiation is done, so you don’t have anything to show other companies. The offer letter is hard copy not electronic. The expiration period is not too short though. I used to receive a LinkedIn offer on Friday evening which expired on Sunday... so that other companies wouldn’t have enough time to respond...💩

Recruiters ask for the details of other offers because the people that actually come up with the offers (hr, comp team / committees, etc...) will ask for that info. Typically if it's higher then the offer they were going to make they will take it into consideration and possibly up the offer. They won't lower the offer they were going to make, that's just not the way it works. So never hurts to provide verbal details. That being said I wouldn't recommend sending anything in writing, that indicates a lack of trust imo plus you don't want that type of written documentation with your name on it floating around out there.

This won't be a make or break component of your job offer. Don't give them things.

Don't do it. Companies usually don't send the offer letter till you have accepted the numbers. So just say you are still negotiating & haven't accepted the numbers yet.

Im surprised a company with a secretive culture as Apple would ask for that. One can't work on projects without needing to sign an NDA.

The secrecy only applies to what's going on inside Apple getting out of Apple. We don't prevent outside secrets free leaking in (unless it's potentially IP that could put our own IP at risk).

Say it is “confidential”. The Apple recruiter may try to ruin your chance with the competitor to get you with a lower offer. Never disclose competitors’ identity.

Just ask the recruiter it would be unprofessional for you to do that and also mention that it would be like sharing Google offer letter to negotiate with XYZ company. The recruiter should understand this

Tell them you signed a NDA and aren't allowed to share the offer letter.
