Does new employer (FB, Google, Amazon or others) files I140 before hiring someone who already completed 6 yrs on H1b? Or do they just file H1b and once you join start GC process (if so how long after you start)? Did someone try it before? Is it good idea to change employer if 6 years on H1B are completed and yet there few years left to get GC? TC: 280k
Mostly on the first day itself in all big companies.
Unless you qualify for EB1, a company can’t file a I140 without a PERM certificate. It’s a year long process just to obtain one.
You can get your h1b transferred on your previous I140. Once you join new employer, you can start the process for new I140
At Amazon you can start GC process on the first day.
any idea if they start I140 before starting or only after you start (at least for someone who used all 6 years on H1b)
I don't think they do that. Do you have I140 with Microsoft?
