Living in the bay area. if you're dude would you sacrifice chemistry with your partner for her earning more. IE: she makes 60k vs 200k+ would you rather have someone who you think is more compatible or one that can earn more? Assuming all else are equal for your prospects. I'm leaning on chemistry.
If you want a successful marriage, it’s a lot more than just chemistry. You better be ready to support her professionally and emotionally, regardless of how much she makes.
Don’t be shallow and ask others for validation. Either it matters to you or it doesn’t. Accept those parts of your nature that make you cringe. Don’t lie to yourself.
What? I'm leaning on chemistry. I was previously in a relationship where my partner was actually making more than me, and we were not even happy.
That does not mean that all relationships in which your partner makes more will be unhappy for u. I make more than husband and we are pefectly happy couple. Dont try to lean towards chemistry just because of your previous experience. Also like someone else said chemistry is not the only thing needed for a successful marriage. U will need to see compatibility, responsibility, ownership, maturity and many things in both of you.
You are not raised right if you pick 'earning power'.
Earning power of my woman matters to me. I want her to go higher
Why if you're not happy? Life is short.
With salaries the way they are for us SWE, we can definitely support a family with a stay at home mom. Plenty of women want to start having children around 30, don’t fret. They are career oriented until they realize having a career isn’t as gloomy as it sounds. Family is much more important.
The issue is living in the Bay area is very challenging with only one salary and maintaining an upper middle class lifestyle.
More of a physics than chemistry to some.
“If you’re a dude” straight*
Chemistry is only for dating, it's not enough for marriage, a long lasting marriage requires strong ethics and all of the good virtues such as patience, kindness, honesty, etc...
