8x8 (public company): Base: $190k Equity: $120k (3 years vest) No sign on bonus Doordash: Base: $160k Equity: $150k (4 years vest) Sign on: $10k Note: Doordash still open for negotiation. My goal: I’m a junior developer (3 YOE) and want to take my skills to the next level. Plus I want something shiny on my resume. Also tips on what to negotiate on is greatly appreciated!
8x8 is okay but DoorDash is a better brand and you may learn more in a fast paced environment.
Thanks! 8x8 interview wasn’t really difficult compared to Doordash. Is it safe to assume their eng team won’t allow me to learn a lot compared to doordash?
It's not safe to assume it but DoorDash overall beats 8x8 in name recognition, pay, and learning opportunity.
Neither. Go to faang
Lol I have FB and G coming up in a couple weeks. Wish me luck!!
Good Luck!
I remember when I interviewed at 8x8, they said they are going for building "good enough" products to have more products to offer for their clients. In other words, quantity over quality. Doesn't sound too good to me to be honest. Also they mentioned that there are many legacy code written throughout their systems and how it's been a pain for them to go around it.
YOE?
2-3
Mobile dev?
Postmates is better than DoorTrash btw, choose 8x8
3 years experienced is getting 190k base. My situation sucks..
Doordash is probably better but they are basically a company of junior level ppl who have no deep experience. They're just now hiring ppl who know how to manage. Until now they entry level folks with passion have just been making stuff up. So, I would ask them about mentorship, career development if you haven't already. Is there anyone there you can actually learn from? Source: my own long ass interview process with them...
@op could you share your onsite interview experience with 8x8?
Two on-sites. 1. 3 hr project build, then demo 2. Algorithms with senior engineer Not to bad. But I don’t like how they required 2 onsites....
what’s 8x8 doordash seems decent
Thank you
