What are some things a new hire should and shouldn’t do as a software engineer?
Don't do meth
Do: be a slave Don’t : work hard
Slaves are supposed to work hard or fed to lions. Atleast that's how it is in my country.
Do not propose too much brilliant ideas before figuring out how and why they get to the current solutions. Listen more initially and try to establish yourself as a finisher and someone who can get things done
Amazing advice. Thanks!
Do meth
Yoe? Listen more than you speak is a good rule of thumb but it's more nuanced than that imo. It highly depends on company culture and whether you are set up for success. The right big idea at the right time will do wonders for a career.

Don't ask on blind.
Do: communicate and ask lots of questions, build relationships and your network, reach out. Don’t: narrow-minded, jump to conclusions, not social
