My company is merging with another. As part of that, my team is doubling (from 7 to 16 direct reports, 100 to 195 total staff). I feel like this warrants a pay increase, but my boss claims that since I'm getting more lieutenants, my job shouldn't be any harder... Thoughts? TC: 180

Where are you located? 7 or 16 really does not need to be that different, but your boss is most likely just trying to shut you up. In these post merger times, pay increase means political capital spent and smart bosses don't spend political capital during mergers.
