Current TC 190K. 4+YOE, OCI Senior MTS Can you please help me compare Google vs Salesforce vs Lyft. All of them are bay area based Salesforce: I have heard a lot of good things about the company culture and I liked the team/project a lot. They are offering me Senior MTS and 185K Base 200K stocks/4 years and 30K joining bonus (and 30K retention bonus at the end of 1st year) + 15% bonus. Google : The recruiter said they can only extend an L3 offer. I faced technical issues at one of the coding interviews and I took a hint in the other coding interview. I guess these didn't play to my advantage. I have always wished to work at Google partly because of how much my friends love the work and employee-friendly culture, partly because of the free food and partly because of the brand name. Lyft: I heard back positive feedback from the recruiter Lyft. They haven't told me about the level or the compensation but I am positive it is not going to be down leveled. Had the google offer been L4, I would have chosen it without skipping a beat. But now I am a bit disappointed because of the level, the kind of work I will get at that level and also (it sounds petty) the fact that people with my experience are generally at L4 and I will be at L3. Would Google be able to match at least the salesforce offer at L3? Also, would it be wise to take the Google offer? Any Googler who had done the same in the past? Were you able to climb the ladder to L4 quickly? In case you feel, I should not join Google, how would you compare salesforce to Lyft?
Iâd suggest waiting for Lyft numbers as it would most probably blow the other two out of the water. :) On the other hand, the Salesforce offer is quite good!
Thanks @6Feet6Inch! I did, in fact, liked Salesforce team a lot. Also, I was very impressed with Lyft workplace and culture. It was effusing with the bay area hip startup culture that I would love to be part of. I am excited to see what Lyft has to offer to me in terms of project and role
Hahah yeah we ooze the culture baby. You looking at a T4 offer?
Go to Salesforce. The worst thing about google is bad career progression, and being hired as L3 makes it even worse. Also, that offer from Salesforce is above any L3 offer I've seen. It's not very special working at google anymore
If you get a L4 offer from Lyft, you wouldnât need to even think. L4 lyft offer can be 300k or more
@kyyw20 how do you like working at Lyft? And what about the future of Lyft? Do you think it can be a bit unstable choice in terms of job security?
Salesforce is awesome offer. Take it. You'll love it here.
@rat-race, How did you like at Salesforce? The only major concern is the commute to the city as I will not be leasing an apartment in the city. Do you think it is bearable? Also, what about the employee perks that place like Google offer? Do you think it should matter in the decision?
Its a great place if you like the team. Been here three years. It's bearable. You can work from home on Thursdays. Other days depending on your team. There are shuttles from the South Bay. I'm planning to quit but that is because of internal issues in my team and not to do with the company as a whole.
Dude, I think this is a no-brainer. I think salesforce has a much better culture than google based on what I heard. But the main problem with salesforce is probably the stock refreshers. Rumor has it that salesforce stock refreshers donât make up for your signon stock. But if you are happy in salesforce, please donât come to google. My google experience has not been good because I am in a bad team now.
@dinoball Thanks for the advice. I one the reason I am inclined towards Google is employee friendliness and perks. Do you think it is overrated and I should not consider in the decision?
Adding to the above. How much value would you think I should assign to that in decision making? Is it a worth level down if google offers the same TOC.
If you are career oriented and like fast paced work, you will hate it here at Salesforce. They don't have anything to offer other than culture and wlb.
other than. lol. culture and wlb are the important things.
Depends on age.
One option is join salesforce and try to change the team in 7-8 months.. internal team changing is very easy and efficient. There are teams in Palo Alto, if thats better commute for you than SF. Only thing is you will have to bear SF commute for 8-9 months to 1 yr max
if you want great wlb and to enjoy life pick Salesforce. itâs great. if you want good wlb and to push yourself constantly pick Google. either way youâll do great. L3 at google is not as bad as you think in this stage of your career.
Op let us know the Lyft offer. Hopefully that's your saviour. A year there and maybe then G gives you l4. Also tryout few other companies and see if you get something better.
Salesforce is in SF right, Iâd take it cause of that tbh. Also, people with 10+yoe have gotten L3 at Google, down level seems to be their standard.
One of the reasons I am hesitant about Salesforce is the fact it is at SF đ. It's so unnecessarily expensive and I hate the commute to work.
Fair enough, maybe you can move closer after your lease is up.
