Got MTS offer. TC: 220k (160 Base + 10% bonus + 176k stocks over 4 years. No sign-on) I had interviewed for SMTS but got down leveled as 1 of the 4 rounds was not as good. Recruiter told me they are set on the level and I can get promoted in a year, as that’s possible at Salesforce. How is the promotion cycle at Salesforce? Has anyone leveled ‘up’ within a year? Current TC: 200K (stock price ++) TC at the time of negotiating: 185K YOE: 3

If your TC is going up, it’s not a down level. TC > Level
True
Take it. You will most likely get promoted after a year if perform well
Not necessarily. Salesforce is known to throw in the phrase “we are hiring you at X level, but the hiring manager believes you’ll be promoted to the next level in a year.”
Don’t believe them. I got the same shit offer from Apple, even though I nailed the interview.
You definitely don't have enough XP to be SMTS.
I have seen some of the new grads (Masters) getting MTS. I have Masters too. How long do people usually have to wait with ‘meets all expectations’ performance to get to SMTS?
Ah if that's the case then usually a year for you. New undergrad to amts, grad to mts. Having 3 years + grad degree helps put you near top of mts band. But look at it from a hiring manager pov, only 3 year XP vs hiring somebody with 5ish for same budget. As for promo, It's usually 1-2 years amts, 2-3 years mts, 3-7 SMTS and so on with higher levels becoming harder to achieve if at all. Lmts was previously the terminal level, now it's pmts.
SMTS is pretty easy to get in 1 year. It's not the same level as seniors in other companies.
That's a ridiculously good TC for MTS. I wouldn't bank on a 1 year promotion to SMTS but you're top of band for comp
Would you accept a SMTS at 220k? Title doesn’t matter, TC does. TC is high MTS and overlapping S. Take the offer.
Don’t buy what that recruiter is selling. Join only if you are okay with not getting promoted in a year.
