Downtown San Jose is now the time to buy?

It's no secret that San Jose is going to blow up soon. Sam Licardo is a god damn genius. Google, Airbnb, Adobe, Uber, Apple and a bunch of other corps are buying land in downtown and nearby in North San Jose. With a estimate I personally believe is underestimated that is a 235 million injection into the market. Is now the time to buy before it all gets completely gentrified?

Market crash coming. CA is one bad tax policy away from running corporations out of the state.

"People fleeing the state" is not necessarily a bad thing. It all depends on how many people are leaving and who is leaving.

California has experienced a bet outflow before. There was a big one in the late 80's and early 90's and another after the dot com crash. Yet here we are, California is bigger and more expensive than ever.

People taking their "California money" to go buy a bigger/nicer home somewhere else isn't new either. Ask longtime residents of Portland and Seattle. In Kirkland WA specifically there are houses that you know for sure were built by Californians. Who else would build a mission style home and plant palm trees in Western Washington? 😄

It is bad when it’s the middle class leaving.

Whenever the "middle class" comes up in a discussion, you know it's over. Technically, according to the academic definition, half of the population is middle class. Practically, when you poll people, 80% of them self identify as middle class. U once caught my spouse describing us as middle class when our family will ncome easily puts us in the 95th percentile nationally.

Except for people who bought their home decades ago, San Jose hasn't been affordable to middle class families for close to 2 decades now

Middle class is the bulk of the tax payers. Nice try making it about yourself though

Bellevue/Kirkland is what really is going to blow up and appreciate further soon. G and FB are gonna hire a few thousand people there, not to mention MS and Amazon expansion.

Both could be good but realistically I think San Jose is going to appreciate much more in value

Both areas prices go down now. So depending on when you expect the "blow-up", you might want to wait a bit. ~10 year economic cycle is close to its end, so it's unlikely that any real expansion will happen within next 5 years

Are you trying to sell something in Downtown SJ? 🤔

Areas around downtown are a ghetto with 1M+ houses. What would you buy there?

I just bought a 2-bed townhome in Japantown. I’m feeling pretty good about the place. SJ is trying to keep up with housing demand and doing a better job than many nearby cities, but it’s still falling way short relative to the number of jobs being created. The trains and freeways are gonna get busier.
