Dropbox vs. Atlassian

Community,

Please help me deciding which new place would be a better jump.

Considering engineering caliber, learning curve, people/culture, products, stock growth.

I am interested in sticking to a place for a minimum of 2 years. It would be important to me to consider which place would better help me in further job hops.

Both offers are around 240 TC with slight difference. Title doesnโ€™t matter.

Please also share why you think one choice would be better than the other.

Current TC - 185

The stock clearly speaks the opposite, dropbox.

Based on using their products, and their shitty stances on security and transparency.

Dropbox you are talking too generic. They have insanely popular products like Jira, Confluence, and bitbucket. Of course there might be some things that you might not like, that doesnโ€™t mean they are a shitty company/business. Iโ€™m not familiar with their stance on security though.

We take security very seriously here, but there were a couple of high profile breaches before my time. Readily found on Google if interested, I assume he's talking about that.

May depend on teams/location but MTV is small enough that I can generalize a bit... It's pretty laid back. I'm used to longer hours and have been told at times not to take deadlines all on my shoulders and go home already. People actually take a fair bit of time off, and the "open company no bullshit" value is taken seriously - way more internal transparency than at any other *large* company I've been at.

Yes on unlimited PTO (for US based engineering positions), some free food including lunches (eat club in MTV, sandwich/salad bar daily with hot lunch Tues/Thurs in Sydney - I think SF is similar) although not as much as some other places I've worked.

I had a positive experience interviewing at Dropbox on a prior cycle, but took a job elsewhere. I really dig it here at Atlassian.

All things being equal you won't go wrong with either and both are big enough companies that what team you land on may make as big a difference as the company. I think we always make team match before offer except for some new grads, not sure about Dropbox.

What does the commute look like for each assuming you don't plan to move? How does the particular team tech stack look at each?
