How common is it that people from backlogged countries(More interested in prospects for India) are filing for GC in EB-5? I have to admit I am getting little fomo about it being from a backlogged country myself.
Even 3 months back I would be like “no, 500k is a lot of money to put in limbo for something like this”. But now it feels like that is not how the tide is currently.
For people who do not have 500k, how do they arrange the funds? Is it not risky in the sense that money will be in limbo for a while and you might lose it? I have seen people say it will take 2-8 years to get GC that way. How long will it take to get GC after someone files it?
Is it really worth it? Does it mean nothing will ever happen to solve the problem of EB-2/3 backlog? :(
- Walmart.com jmhkDepends on the backlogged country. China is 10-13 years wait time in EB5. India is still current. I526 gets approved in 2-2.5 years.
- 500k is not enough, you will likely need to double that to have a successful application. That minimum really only works for investors in poor parts of the country and not the tech areas.
