Looking at doing an internal transfer to an EM role from IC. Theoretically it's the same level (6), but the outgoing EM I'd replace said the salary bands are actually quite different. I can't find any info on the comp bands for EMs at Square so I'm curious (doesn't impact my decision to take the role or not, btw).
I don't think that's true. My understanding is that the bands are identical but the distribution might be different because most people who become managers have been here a while
My experience has been that EM roles tend to have higher bands, both base and equity even more so, than “equivalent” IC roles.
Hey OP, did you figure this out?
Can someone please comment on the EM hiring process at Square ? Typical phone/onsite rounds ?
One coding and one management phone, 1-2 coding, system design, 2-3 management on site
As it turns out, the midpoint for L6 EM is about 25k higher.
I can confirm Square’s EM bands are higher than IC for the same level.
