EPM at apple
Just met someone who is engineering program manager and only has 5 yoe after Master’s. Do you come across people like this at Apple ? I don’t comprehend how someone can be hired directly as EPM with only 5 years exp!!
EPM is a project manager - take notes, schedule meetings...job done well they could be the glue that holds the team together. Most EPM’s - I’ve come across great exceptions - I’ve seen are the engineering post man, nothing more.
In HW it’s the same - push schedules and pester people for updates.
EPM in AOS are crap. They manage contractors and no real contributions or deliveries. Funny they make salary same as engineers. What does anyone think of them?
Mine is helpful and keeps us on track. Handles the politics and lets me focus on my work. Big value add from my pov
