Hi All - my company ( no I don’t work for WMT) has started my GC process and I am waiting for perm filing ( recruitment and pwd are happening at the same time) . With the wait times for Indians to get a GC, I just got to know that my company is opening an office in Ireland . Should I put my name in the 🎩 and work there for a year and get an eb2 application ported over to eb1c? I am a manager and have 2 direct reports . With Eb1c the wait time will go down from 15(0) to 3 years . Thoughts ? Pros/ Cons? My wife’s name was not picked in lottery twice and we don’t know whether h4ead is going to stay or not.
I know . Let us get back to the question listed above.
what is your priority date?
Don’t have a PD date yet. Should be getting it for 3-4 months from now as my GC process just started .
Eb1 is the only option for Indians. Folks in eb2 beyond 2010 will wait a long time unless hr 1044 passes.
so you seem to be making the same mistake that hundreds of thousands of people have made. your wait time for eb1c is probably already 10+ years. ROW had a backlog this year which means there is a decent chance that India will be restricted to 2800 visas in eb1 going forward as opposed to 13k+ visas in 2017. A very conservative estimate is there are 30k+ indians in the eb1 line already. added to this, lots of people are ahead of you in the game in upgrading from eb2 to eb1. in many cases, they are doing an O-1 and using that as a basis to do eb1. To summarize, you stand no chance to get e green card in eb2 in your lifetime and much longer wait than 3 years in eb1. my advice is definitely go the eb1 route since there is at least light at the end of a very long tunnel. some eb1 data here: https://www.cato.org/blog/150-year-wait-indian-immigrants-advanced-degrees
I’m still not clear on wait time for eb1c if PD is April 2018?
6 years was a estimate assuming demand from other countries didn’t go up. but demand went up so wait time is likely more than 6 years. it’s hard to tell for sure how much more but mathematical worst case is 30 years. this would happen if all 84k people as of last year in line didn’t leave the line and india was limited to the maximum guaranteed visas (2800) per year.
Thank you for constructive advice. Makes sense . Let me first get my PD . Will think about Ireland later . Looked up online , not very promising . Probably , I am stuck here .
@op - which company are you with?
Op what’s ur current status?
There is a possibility that eb1c might be removed from eb1 category because of the number of scammers gaming the eligibility.
But till then, scam on. I know several who got their green cards this way and are now raking in the $$
They have a special place in hell.
