I am interested in the Hardware Engineer, Lidar Electrical engineering position at Argo. I have applied to the role several times since May 2019. I also had 4 internals referrals. I got rejects for some other roles that I applied to. But I never heard back on this one. I see the role reposted every month and in multiple locations. I was wondering if the role is still active. TC: 80k in Bay Area Yoe: 3.5 yrs Masters Degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering
Are you any good? Maybe your resume needs improvement? Why just that company? Do you need sponsorship? That reduces your pool of available positions/companies. Have you asked the ppl who referred you to follow up with internal recruiting to figure out why they never reached out to you? In general, it is considered a waste of an employee’s time to let them refer someone and never even giving the employee an update. I don’t have a huge problem with the TC, since I know how compensation goes in hardware. Good luck. In LIDAR, you should be looking at drone and autonomous vehicles.
I went to a top school, graduated with a high gpa and have all the qualifications listed including preferred ones. This role is actually highly cross functional. More to do with integrating the lidar into the system, than the actual internal working. I have experience in similar product in defense industry back in India. I require sponsorship too. The people who referred are the ones I contacted through LinkedIn. One guy personally forwarded the resume to the hiring manager. But he left the company. The others did it on the system. But currently aren't responding.
No offense but system integration won’t go to a new grad. It’s something you work up to over many years and after having shipped products.
Here’s my advice: DO NOT limit yourself to a specific engineering role like Lidar. With an MS + 3.5 YOE in the Bay Area you should make AT LEAST 150k. Apply to a lot of companies in general engineering roles.
I prefer generalist roles and have been interviewing with a lot of interesting startups. But nothing has worked out yet.
Shit, I’m getting screwed over too, then 😂 MSEE with 16 YOE, TC = $162k
Did you try applying to Velodyne?
I did a phone interview with velodyne. They wanted someone with specific focus on analog and power electronics. It was not a generalist role.
how do you survive in the bay area? do you even eat or just pay rent?
Lol... It's not that bad.. 80k is good enough to survive... I am not too worried about that.. it's just something that I took up temporarily to move to the Bay immediately after graduation and look for other opportunities. My 3.5 yoe is before Masters.
80k qualifies you for low income housing plus very little taxes, so it's not that bad
To be honest, TC 80k will live a little bit harder. Try to find a higher pay job at Bay Area. Good luck!
Does anyone know about Quanergy system Lidar company? I am currently In interview process with them for Sr Electrical engineer role. I have 12+ yr experience in industrial product development. Quanergy is startup fairly small team. I got mixed reviews some are saying company is lacking behind in product nd all. Any idea of salary range for Sunnyvale?
Holy shit. TC 80K?
I interviewed with a lot of interesting companies and didn't realize the time it took. I took up a contract position through a staffing agency to maintain status.
