Employee fired after reporting rape joke about her to HR

This story is maddening. Anyone on here from Ripcord? Your company culture appears to be trash. “What ultimately brought Coneybeer to go to HR was when an employee at a company holiday party allegedly made a joke to her boyfriend about raping her. Coneybeer said she reported this to her boss, who then escalated it to HR. Ripcord fired the person who made the rape joke. But within one month, both Coneybeer and her boss were also let go. Coneybeer told TechCrunch she considered filing a lawsuit alleging wrongful termination and retaliation, but decided going this route may be more effective.” https://techcrunch.com/2018/02/02/perry-coneybeer-ripcord-allegations/

I just don’t even know where to start with this. If this is what happened (and I have no reason to believe otherwise), then I hope she takes them for every dime they have.

So if they fired the person who made the joke... Then let go of boss and her. Maybe the two events are separate and there is no connection? I wouldn’t jump so quick to conclusions, especially since we hear just one side of the story in a trigger-happy #metoo age.

I notice you always post agro responses to anything in the women in tech section or anything involving sexual harassment. I’m a dude and I find it highly disturbing. I can only imagine how the women on here feel. Why does this topic trigger you so easily? Honest question.

Decided not sue - most likely this means she doesn’t have a case

Probably does. It’s a fucking hassle and money waste.

Same person loved the culture enough to publicly post about it mid oct 2017. https://www.ripcord.com/blog/stories/why-i-joined-ripcord/

CEO has striking resemblance to Dr. Evil...

He looks like a Fat Dr Evil who cannot get laid unless he used his executive white privilege.

I have seen this in Silicon Valley (and said something). HR never cares.

HR is in the business of protecting the business and not the employee. You would be well served to remember that. That is why these companies fear unions so much. Try organizing a union I bet that will go over like a lead 🎈. Be careful with HR.
