Marqeta is going through a hyper growth and with that the pain of growing as well. How do you feel about the current engineering reorg going on? Good? Bad? Neutral?
Really positive. It’ll make us faster.
VERY cool that we’re big enough to start having a blind presence 😂
Yah, it’s cool. Blind needs 30 people from same company to sign up before opening a dedicated channel for that company.
I think the concept behind the reorg is perfectly fine. However, a reorg alone will not result in higher shipment velocity or a more stable product! The product team needs to be more focused. We have a lot of product people focused on new product initiatives and building pretty internal tools, and not enough product people focused on the core processing technology, infrastructure, and data warehouse. All of the outages in the last few months should highlight just how important those things are
It's good if your new and part of it, but if you been through all of them you're like "Again" and let's wait for the next one. Also, new people are getting all the attention, but let's wait to see what results come from them all. Time will tell the truth here.
My day to day didn’t change at all. So, pretty neutral on it. I’ve walked to the wrong desk more than a few times though.
Same thing happened at Brex just this past week
Neutral leaning positive. Hopefully having a larger % of tech directly tied to product outcomes we increase our ship rate.
