Enterprise Engineer or E4 at Facebook.

May 10, 2018 8 Comments

I have 2 years of professional experience. I don’t have a CS degree and I’m a full stack engineer. My friend is an enterprise engineer at Facebook. He can refer me, and apparently the interview is easier. For his interview, he only had 3 coding onsite, and no system design. Should I go with being an enterprise engineer, or try for E4? Obviously E4 makes more money but I rather get into Facebook than not get in. What should I do.

As a former E4, Don't DONT DONT!!!!! I was an EE and it is a disaster there. You won't grow, you'll work on internal tools and Oracle, God help you. You also get half as much RSUS As a SWE. To transfer to SWE you'll need to redo your coding and design interview.

What are you even asking? EE and E4 are not exclusive?

I’m asking if I should get referred by my friend for an EE position in the biz apps team? Or be referred to be a general engineer, like E4

Then change your question to EE or SWE. You can interview for multiple roles btw. Doesn't have to be either or

E4. The projects also don't seem very interesting. Unless you really really want to work for fb
